Jon Jekielek
Jon Damon Jekielek, Esq., has been practicing as an attorney since graduating from the Suffolk University School of Law in 2006. As a law student, Jon became been involved in the entertainment industry by working at K Sports and Entertainment in Boston, MA. Under the watchful eye of Kristen Kuliga, the firm’s principal, Jon received first-hand sports and entertainment law experience. He worked on numerous athlete and artist licensing matters, marketing and player contracts. Jon also researched artist development projects, including promotions and management for the likes of DMC, Aerosmith, The New Cars and Doug Flutie.
Jon was subsequently hired as in-house counsel at American Talent Agency, Inc., a world renowned independent booking agency that books live musical performances for major recording artists, including the likes of 50 Cent, Akon, Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliot and Wyclef. At American Talent Agency, Jon negotiated and drafted numerous artist engagement contracts, tour and sponsorship deals, and generally traveled with the artists to shows throughout the world in order to gain a better understanding of the artist-manager relationship and the rigors of touring.
In 2006, Jon left American Talent Agency to form the Law Offices of Jon Jekielek, PLLC. His new firm would place an emphasis on building client relationships and providing them with the attention they deserve and high quality legal services at competitive rates. Jon has negotiated and drafted complex recording agreements, co-publishing agreements, various licensing agreements and investment agreements in connection with the entertainment and live music industry. Jon also represents his clients in the court room (state and federal) and has successfully settled or won cases, including claims for breach of contract, copyright infringement, business torts and collection for back royalties.
In 2009, Jon formed a partnership with Ira Scot Meyerowitz to form the firm of Meyerowitz Jekielek, PLLC, a full service law firm that expands upon Jon’s desire to provide his clients with the highest degree of attention and legal assistance they require.
Through his experience and contacts, Jon is in a unique position to assist established and new artists of any genre, as it concerns all aspects of their career and goals, within and outside the spectrum of music or film.
He is admitted to practice in all of New York’s state courts, as well as before the Federal Courts of the Southern District of New York
